Afrocentrism

Righty: The glorification of African culture is just a transparent attempt by disaffected black intellectuals to further discredit our European heritage and weave a web of self-aggrandizing myths and lies around their primitive culture. Let’s get real: how can you compare tribal masks to the Sistine Chapel ceiling? Afrocentrists even have the audacity to claim the ancient Egyptians as ancestors of today’s African Americans, when everyone knows the Egyptians weren’t black. Afrocentrists are clearly desperate to find some evidence of distinction in their past, but their efforts are either self-deluding or plainly dishonest. To make matters worse, they’re actually teaching this drivel in schools today. What about teaching black kids how to read and write so they don’t end up as angry, drug-dealing street thugs or unwed teenage mothers?

Lefty: Africa was the birthplace of humankind and home to the most ancient civilization on the planet. Africans built the pyramids and the Sphinx; they created brilliant works of art while Europeans huddled over peat fires to warm their sorry backsides. Systematically excluded from our racist school curricula until now, Africa has re-emerged as the cultural focal point in restoring pride and dignity to millions of African-American students — the descendants of enslaved Africans who had been blatantly deprived of their cultural birthright for centuries.

The New Moderate:

African history and culture are worth studying, but so is everyone’s heritage. All world history courses (and world history must become a requirement in all public schools) should include a segment on Africa — as well as on Europe, the Middle East, India, China, Latin America (you get the picture).

The Afrocentrists’ emphasis on the glories of their African heritage might boost the self-esteem of underachieving black kids, and that’s a worthy goal. But at what price? Dismissal of (and hostility toward) European history as little more than a chronicle of systematic imperialist exploitation? Further self-ghettoization of the already ghettoized African American community? The creation of a narcissistic cultural identity that clouds reality with wishful half-truths? (Yes, the ancient Egyptians were African; no, they weren’t black.)

The cultivation of a mythic Afrocentric world-view, like the invented holiday Kwanzaa, springs from noble intentions but will only dig a deeper gulf between the black community and the rest of American society. Include African history and folk traditions in every social studies curriculum, definitely — but teach it accurately, and don’t make it the focal point of a black child’s education. With slavery and Jim Crow dead and buried, black separatism should join them in the cultural graveyard.

Should American blacks take pride in their African heritage? Absolutely. With a passion. Do they need to connect with Africa in order to feel good about themselves and their achievements? Absolutely not. What a sad idea. African Americans need no validation from another continent. A four-century history of suffering and redemption on these shores is validation enough. African Americans are, above all else, quintessentially American, and they have an abundance of American heroes to admire. In a New Moderate’s utopia, some of those heroes might even be white.

Summary: Afrocentrism is a well-intentioned but divisive influence. Include African history in social studies courses, but keep it free of dogma and don’t make it the core of a black child’s education.

We really shouldn’t edit history to favor one group, no matter the intent behind the revisions, because obvious lies discredit people and lead to disaffection. The last thing any group needs is to go and say “we’re better than you.” It’s still racist if a minority says it. The Egyptians weren’t black, the Nubians weren’t always in charge, and yes, Europe screwed over Africa. Why? Because they needed more stuff to kill each other with/money, and they could. Just because your culture got royaly screwed doesn’t mean you get to be a self-righteous jerk, and just because your culture dominated doesn’t mean you should be proud, or ashamed. WE WERE NOT THERE, no guilt, no reperations, pity, or smugness, history is just facts and they are to be kept neutral so future generations, and here’s the important bit, DO NOT, make the same stupid mistakes over and over again. Not to make anyone feel good/bad.

I agree with most of your post. Europe also screwed North and South America because they could. But that is old history. And history is meant to be learned from so we don’t repeat the same mistakes, as you said, not so we can get angry and blame people for our current mistakes. We are all responsible for our own actions no matter what, or who, our ancestor was. I am the descendant of a Viking who raped a Scottish woman. I have no intention of asking reparation from one of the countries the Vikings came from…it is old history. Not everything in history is pretty. Children need to be taught HONEST history and Whole history, not fanciful bits that make it seem like a fairy tale. I did “afterschooling” with my children to fill in what the school left out. History was a big subject for us because the school did such a bad job. My kids came home after Martin Luther King Day and told me that “he freed the slaves” and he was a really great “prophet” and one of my daughters asked my if we should pray to him. I went ballistic!! Spent a week teaching them about President Lincoln and the Civil War and of course called the school and reamed them out. But my girls said “If Lincoln freed the slaves, how come he doesn’t have a day off from school?” I didn’t have an answer to that one! Teach history Honestly so we can learn from it!

You all don’t get presidents day off? And even if you don’t, he does have his face on more than one of or federal reserve notes. I would also like to point out that, as awful as it is that one of your ancestors was raped(I mean that sincerely without sarcasm) black Americans all have to deal with the possibility of that same origin. That is only salt to the wound with the thought that your relative was raped, beaten, All while being forced to assist in the success of your tormentors. And then compound the rage you might feel for those reasons, and add a lack of ability to even accurately trace those events. As far as you asking for reparations from Viking predators, you don’t live in, or probably know, the origin of said Viking. Said Viking didn’t rape your relative and then build an empire on the backs of her and her relatives for decades upon decades. Plus this “old history”you speak of, is much older than the history that you intend to place American slavery in. Furthermore, reparations is not really a topical argument these days. I wouldn’t say that’s the focus of “black America” at this time which further dilutes your already watered down argument….respectfully.

Taliesin Knol, we shouldn’t edit history indeed. That is what Africans have been complaining about for years, even when Napoleon ignored the slave revolt in Haiti, to go to Egypt with 300 ships and 50,000 men, purpose?questionable, since an artist he travelled with drew French troops cutting off noses from the statues in Egypt. Why? It is no secret that the white race hates the black race, from time immemorial. Egypt is in Africa, so it is perfectly natural for Africans to claim it. Secondly, at what dates did the European appear in Egypt? Isn’t it 1750BCE almost 10,000 years after the Africans had began the Nile Civilization. So where is the evidence of Europeans crossing over to Egypt 5776BCE to begin the Egyptian Civilization? Evidence! Evidence! Evidence! That is what the white race lacks. The only evidence whites have, is of the Hyksos, Jewish, Persian, Assyrian, Greek and Roman presence in Egypt, when Egypt was at it’s decline. The further South you go into Africa, through the Sudan, the more you find unexcavated proof of African pre Egyptian writing and artifacts. Why do you think there was a war between North and South Sudan? It is a continuation of the ethnic cleansing carried out by Egypt’s invaders, from the Hebrews to the Arabs, that is why you see the ethnic cleansing continuing in Darfur. Whites, with their Jewish and Arab mulatto helpers wanted to ethnically cleanse and enslave all Africans, by 1960, this narcassistic chauvanistic murderous white racemof men had wipped out half of Africa’s population, earning themselves 7 places in the world’s 10 most evil people, with a body count of close to 1billion human souls. They inhumanity and hate by whites towards blacks knows no bounds, we are not surprised they would claim African history as theirs, with no corroborating evidence in Europe from 7000BCE, like there is, in South Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda. Europe had NO long horned cows like the Egyptians and the Rwandese and Ugandans. A hateful and inhumane race whites are, narcassistic to the core.

I don’t really have much to say beyond two rants…

I’m sick and tired of subsaharan Africans trying to claim Egypt and Carthage… Egyptians were not black, they were light brown or olive and depicted themselves as lighter than the Nubians which they considered inferior barbarians, and darker than the caananites who they also considered to be inferior barbarians…And the Carthaginians weren’t even African, they came from Lebanon in the middle east. If anything I, someone who’s family comes from the Mediterranean, is closer to either of the aforementioned groups than anyone beyond that impassable desert that marked the end of the world for most of antiquity.

To add, the Greeks had the same olive supremacist attitude… their take was interesting, they considered the white people to the north to be moral but stupid primitives, and the darker people to the south to be more intelligent but also dishonest.

That’s more or less it, I don’t care about black Jesus, its bs but then he didn’t look likeTed Nugent either. Plus, you know, atheist.

Jesus was a Jew….I have friends that are Jewish (by blood and religion)…. and one has brown hair and brown eyes, one has red hair and blue eyes (Most of her family still resides in Israel) and another has blond hair and blues eyes. In fact he reminds me of Emilio Estevez! So Jesus could have had any of those colorings. But he was definetly NOT Black. He was a Jew.

Next, there are many countries on the continent of Africa. Say like, Morroco. Morrocan Americans do not go around calling themselves African Americans, at least none of my friends do. You cannot claim an entire continent to yourself and think everyone looks like you! Even the Austrailians (which Austrailia is its own continent) know that the aborignal people lived there before them. I’m so sick of it. If you don’t know your history, that’s your fault. Go and try to learn it and get some facts.

How do you know if Jesus was a Jew? There isn’t any proof he was. If you read the description of Jesus he could definitely be of mixed African descent. Africans and Jews intermingled in the Middle East, so you really can’t say what the racial breakdown was back then.

Thus we reach the absurd conclusion that blacks are basically whites. On these numerous bas-reliefs, we see that, under the eighteenth dynasty, all the specimens of the white race placed behind the nazis, a tattooed savage, dressed in animal skin, instead of being at the start of civilization, was still essentially untouched by it and occupied the last echelon of humanity.Champollion conclusion is typical. after stating that these sculptures can serve as vignettes for history of the early inhabitants of europe, he adds, “If ever one has the courage to attempt it. Finally after those comments, he presents he’s opinion on the egyptian race: the first tribes of the egyptian race that inhabited Egypt, that is the nile valley between the syene cataract and the sea, came from abyssinia to senar. the ancient Egyptians belonged to a quite similar to the Kennous or Barabras, present inhabitants of Nubia. In the copts of egypt, we do not find any of the characteristic features of ancient population. The copts are the results of cross breeding with all other nations that have successively dominated Egypt. It is Disrespectful to seek in them the principal features of the old race.

While all people have been enslaved at different points in time and to varying degrees, no people have been enslaved as consistently or in such large numbers and by so many other people as sub Saharan black Africans.

Also, they are the only people known to systematically participate in the enslavement of their own people. So many of them could easily be sold off only because their own people would travel to the interior of their continent, round up their own kind, and bring them to the coast to be sold to Muslims, then Europeans, and then Americans.

To this day, Africa is a continent that either fails or struggles to tend to its own needs, with the exception of white South Africans. Yet they want the rest of us to swallow the lie that they invented and created virtually everything related to human intellect, art and culture.

Similarly, delusional idiots like anthropologist Chris Stringer, suffering from some malignant form of white guilt, insists that some time ago (his first theory stated 40,000 years ago, now he’s backing it up to as high as 200,000 years ago) black sub Saharan Africans decided to walk out of Africa in the direction of Europe and Asia. These negroids then morphed into every sort of caucausoid from a Sicilian to a Swede, except for those who headed to Asia…they magically transformed into Indians, Japanese, Chinese, etc. Not only did this wild morphing take place, but these brilliant, world conquering sub Saharan blacks managed to snuff out all the people who had managed to survive and thrive throughout Europe and Asia, often in extreme climate conditions, for at least hundreds of thousands of years. Well, no matter! These dark skinned people who had adapted to a climate and topography vastly different from Eurasia made mincemeat of the hearty early folk living there, (although forced to by genetic studies, some of them now admit that a few might have mixed, but not enough to be significant) before fading into either a Caucasian or Asian…the whole thing is so freaking stupid, so egregiously in service to the most leftist, patronizing sociopolitical agendas I can hardly believe such drivel is taught in respectable universities throughout the US and elsewhere. No matter how many bones you throw sub Saharan blacks, it will never change the facts that we all see. It won’t help de-ghettoize black Americans, it won’t change a damn thing. It will only feed a bs lie for blacks to gnaw on while they remain at the bottom of the socioeconomic barrel. If bleeding hearts truly wish to help them, focus on things other than lies.

My comment is similar to Giuliano. I’m sick and tired of hearing people trying to be something they’re not. You are what you are. Black America does NOT know its history pre-slavery and it has only recently come out that through extensive genetic research, most “African-Americans” are descended from peoples in very SPECIFIC parts of Africa. Secondly, the term “African-American” is rather inappropriate since MOST of today’s American blacks have NO connection to anyone on the continent of Africa. They know NOTHING about the various cultures/countries there – to include sadly – from which TRIBES they even come. Being African doesn’t make you black by the way, since many colors, races, ethnicities, proliferate that continent. Creating a past for yourself does not make it so.

    • October 25, 2011 8:32 pm

Giuliano and Ami: Afrocentrism is a touchy issue, and I didn’t want to rub salt in any 400-year-old wounds. I think what we’re seeing when American blacks claim Egyptians as their ancestors is a kind of desperate grab for prestige, even if it’s retroactive prestige.

They’ve looked at statues of full-lipped ancient Egyptians, noted that the Egyptians were Africans like them, and made a kind of flying leap in logic to link themselves with a great culture. (“Egyptians were African. We’re African. Therefore, we’re Egyptian.) We know, as you’ve both observed, that the ancient Egyptians weren’t black, because they depicted black people in their art with a distinctively different look.

I’m guessing that today’s blacks (including some highly educated ones) are selectively ignoring the evidence in a misguided attempt to erase centuries of brutal treatment and low status. Some of the educated Afrocentrists are probably playing the Egyptian heritage card as a weapon to use in belittling Whiteys’ “Johnny-come-lately” European pedigree.

It’s irritating, I know, but it’s also sad… as if American blacks feel so inferior that they need to dig up 5000-year-old “ancestors” to justify their existence. Good grief, there have been so many great and distinguished blacks since the Civil War that it seems almost pathological for them to harp on the greatness of their imaginary Egyptian heritage. I guess this is what happens when you’ve been told you’re inferior for generation after generation. Their response is understandable, but that doesn’t make it right. And it certainly doesn’t justify the spreading of falsehoods within the academic world.

      • October 25, 2011 8:45 pm

Postscript: If American blacks want to celebrate their ancestral heritage, they can look to the Nubians (the Egyptians might have looked down on them, but they still had a pretty impressive civilization) as well as some West African cultures (like the Ife) that created first-rate art.

What disturbs me as much as Afrocentrism is the increasing conversion of American blacks to Islam. To me it’s evidence that blacks are still feeling alienated from white people, to the extent that they want to distance themselves and even segregate themselves from mainstream American society. I hope they realize that Mohammed was white. (Dark white, but still Caucasian.)

Here in Philly, I see so many black women clad in black from head to foot even on hot summer days. I wonder when African Americans will finally start identifying as Americans. I’d have thought Obama’s election would do it, but I guess he’s “not black enough.”

Ami, what amazes me is tnat whites can make blatant unbacked statements like, ‘people claiming to be what they are not’. What unchallenged proof does any white person here have other than HATRED FOR BLACK PEOPLE? Is the lotus flower, that every Pharoah used a lot, a plant native to Europe? No. The ancient Egyptians kept long horned cows, drew them on the walls, again, the long horned cow not native to Europe. The long horned cow is native to the Mt. Rwenzori region in Uganda, called the Mountain of the Moon, by the Ancient Egyptians, in the Papyrus of Hunefer or Edfu text.. What is wrong with white people when it comes to black people? Can’t white people, for once, stop interfering with black people and our history? How hateful is this white race? Why don’t they go and excavate their European homeland?

Agreed. He could NEVER be “black enough” for them because he acknowledges having a white parent, just like his detractors want to IGNORE the fact that his mother is white…hence the Kenya Muslim birther crap. During my entire existence the black community has gone from negro to colored to black to Afro-American to African American. When I asked one black person what was with all the different labels over the last 50 years, the response was, “Well…our community has never REALLY known where we’re from….” I guess that says it all.

And interesting that you’ve mentioned their conversion to Islam. If they are still feeling alienated from white people as you’ve pointed out..this will not help their cause. I went to Turkey in 1997 and the tour guide said as far as his country was concerned, American Black Muslims are not regarded as “true Muslims” because the men wear “bling bling”, which is considered a FEMALE thing. Muslim men don’t wear jewelry. (Just quoting the tour guide).

And another interesting point, an Egyptian woman told me that it was the ENGLISH who made a distinction between “Egyptians” and the Sudanese…only because the Sudanese are black. Egyptian people have no issues with “blackness” or the Sudan, and consider the Sudan part of Egypt. Hence the Sudanese are Egyptian as far as Egyptians are concerned….which of course, as you’ve already pointed out, does NOT make Black America “Egyptian”.

Black people should be proud –there are many accomplished people who claim to be members of the black and mixed races. However, claiming the ancient Egyptians were black, is kind of telling the actual Egyptians that THEY have no rights to their own history and heritage. This could cause an identity crisis for the Eqyptians—at least for those who are deluded enough to think that they are, well, Egyptians—- and that their ancient ancestors—were—well, their ancestors. My Egyptian friends seem to think THEY are Egyptian–you know, a brown semitic type people who historically have lived in Egypt? Although they think black people are wonderful, they don’t think they themselves are black nor their ancestors. And, they believe, THEY are the descendants of the ancient Egyptians. Since the afrocentrist movement centers in America, I don’t get how these people who don’t live in Egypt think they should dictate to the Egyptians who their ancestors were. I mean, I’m sure the Swedes would just love to be told their ancestors are black, cuz, well blacks are just great, but it just isnt accurate, and most Swedes, like most other people, just want the truth -cuz reality can be a mentally healthy thing, right? What if a bunch of Swedes decided they were actually the ancestors of the sub-saharan black Africans?—It’s easy to twist up some data to sound accurate—so they could do that and call it the Swedo Centric movement.

Another tirade against white people… surprise, surprise! FYI, they’ve done DNA testing on modern Egyptians and compared the results with ancient Egyptian DNA. Guess what: today’s Egyptians are pretty much the same stock as ancient Egyptians, which actually surprised me (I thought modern Egyptians would have more Arab blood). So if you want to see what ancient Egyptians look like, just check out some photos of today’s Egyptians. They’re dark, like Arabs, but they’re Caucasian.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but facts are facts. You can even look at ancient Egyptian art for evidence; black people are portrayed as looking much different from ordinary Egyptians. And there’s not much resemblance between Queen Nefertiti and Diana Ross.

Frankly, I don’t see why so many blacks are so hung up on whether the ancient Egyptians looked like them. Instead of fantasizing about a glorious, vanished black civilization, they should focus on building a strong community right now, right here.

This is an interesting perspective to say the least. Our opinions converge and diverge in different places–and that’s fine: such is life.
However, to say the Egyptians were not Black would be an logical fallicy–a sweeping generalization. Thinking (writing) should be nuanced and specific, not cumbersome and general, for then it looses accuracy and valididty. Egypt was Black. Egypt was Asian. Egypt was also Greek. Egypt has a long and varied history, and to imply that Blacks were never consituted a ruling dynasty would be erroneous.

ummmm… i am tired of such bull-crap and racism. What the hell is afro-cetric bull. If your intelligent enough ask yourself somalis and ethiopians exist, last time i checked they are not black skinned but arent they African? 2) If your intelligent enough look at most of the historians who wrote about egypt describing them as similar to their ethiopian brothers but also dark in skin texture 3) Why was it that most African looking pharaohs images were destroyed and mostly at the nose at times the whole image, ummm..something called colonialism happened and euro-centric thinking began, where they detested the primitive black negroe and could never imagine him been so intelligent. I mean if your truly moderate the simple fact is inter-marriage took place due to been conquered by ancient middle eastern empires and from there we have mixed up races occuring but the founders of egypt in all honesty were indigenous Africans. History can never be hidden and the proof is in the artefacts and culture which have alot of similarity to African cultures. So id say the Egyptian civilisations were a beginning of African indigenous people, then mixed race in the middle part of egypts life and finally a complete occupation of arabs. And do you know the current southern parts of egypt today have black indigenous people another thing that most of the artefacts were also reconstructed by the europeans who had a theory known as the supreme race theory. Research instead of using emotions.

Most black Africans reject Afrocentrism cause they know that black Americans are full of disdain and shame for their real West African ancestors and that therefore they claim all non-African and non-negroid races as black for claiming them as their people and their own, for escaping their real identity and hijacking achievements. Furthermore being African does’t always mean being black. There are Native and indigenous North African tribes like the Kabyle(Non-Arabs) from the Mountains of Algeria who are pale skinned 100% Africans and 100% Caucasianoid. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/4871510847_892a9c8068_b.jpg http://cdn.top4top.net/i_179ff5c2084.jpg.

I get the gist of what you’re saying. I’m black myself and I’m tired of this feel good, pat me on the back Afrocentrist crap.

Demouchetter obviously lacks reading comprehension skills. Nobody here said the ancient Egyptians were literally white Europeans. I’ve seen afrocentrists respond this way over and over, but they’re almost always putting words in someone elses mouth because I’ve never heard anyone make that claim with credulity. When I hear it it’s almost always from white supremacists making the afrocentrist’s argument in reverse.

It’s more than likely the ancient Egyptians were a mix of many different racial groups, probably starting with Africans and then mixing with other people from the Levant and eventually Greece and Rome.

We as black people in America are NOT the descendants, either racially or culturally of ancient Egypt. We came mostly out of West Africa and that’s all there is to it. Why can’t we just be proud of all the great blacks who have accomplished so much since the end of the Civil War in spite of great adversity?

Or hell, why not be proud of our slave ancestors without whose strength we wouldn’t exist today. They suffered under an almost unspeakably cruel system where human beings were bred and sold to the highest bidder like common farm animals. White folks didn’t build the South’s economy of tobacco, sorghum, and cotton. Our ancestors did that with the sweat of their own brow and sometimes they paid in blood for disobedience. If that doesn’t speak to the strength of the black spirit I don’t know what does.

And if we have to bring up Africa, what’s wrong with the mighty Ghana, Mali, and Songhai? Or the Ife who built beautiful bronze statuary? Isn’t the rest of Africa worth mentioning? A lot of these afrocentrists gloss right over sub-saharan Africa, treating it with the very contempt they deride whites for holding against Africa. Just because you put on a dashiki and talk about Egypt doesn’t mean you “get” Africa. So many black Americans are ignorant of Africa as a whole and this is why friction is often created when American blacks meet Africans. A shared complexion does NOT guarantee a shared culture or appreciation of African history and accomplishments.

    • November 3, 2012 11:37 pm

Beautifully said, J Walker! You summed up The New Moderate’s position more eloquently than I did. African Americans can take genuine pride in those ancient sub-Saharan civilizations (some of those Ife sculptures can rival anything produced in Europe or Asia), as well as the slave ancestors who persevered and created a wonderful cultural legacy despite two centuries of suffering… and of course the black heroes and heroines who distinguished themselves after emancipation. With so much to be proud of, who needs Egypt?

You also make an interesting and valid point about African Americans’ apparent dismissal of sub-Saharan African cultures. I think it stems from the Afrocentrists’ cultural inferiority complex; they’ve probably internalized the age-old American prejudice against blacks, so they feel the need to overcompensate… to claim Africa’s most famous civilization as their own.

If only they could feel the kind of pride you feel: the clear-eyed, unostentatious pride of someone whose self-esteem is secure and who feels no need to score points.

Afrocentrics also claim that all of the invention and technological advancements we use are invented all by black Africans. Despite the fact that many sub-Saharan Africans still live like in prehistoric times and need Europeans and Asians to show them how to collect waters and build fountains. Africans themselves never claim that they invented advanced technical things. In Contrast they have no problems with admitting that Europeans and Asians are more advanced and concerning technology and medicine far superior than them and that they need to learn from them. The Europeans builded modern houses, hospitals, roads etc and now the Chinese are improving the infrastructure in many african countries.

I found this article to be quite interesting. Let me start off by saying that the statement made “African Americans don’t need to connect with the continent of Africa to gain a full awareness of themselves and their (past) cultures/history on this planet” is complete non-sense! How can one say that people do not need to gain understanding of their ancestral past? Our ancestors, our past is like the roots to our standing tree and without roots we cannot stand firm. Why do you think African Americans are in the current predicaments that they are in today? Statistically speaking, black people are one of the most broken if not THE MOST broken people in America; broken families, scoring rates of drug abusers, incarcerations and that’s just naming a couple of the pressing issues of African Americans in 2013. Not to mention the poor Africans who are on the continent of Africa right now. I am especially disturbed by the statement being made that African Americans have American heroes to look up to rather than identifying with Africa/African culture and their own heroes.
    1. Why? and 2. How?
Why would African Americans need to look up to anyone of the European race when Europeans were the people who enslaved, oppressed, murdered and ultimately forced them to detach from their past which in turn made them lose sight of themselves? And yes this is history and it happened a long time ago but these are the facts and we will face them! Europeans have oppressed not only Africans, but Native Americans as well.. so tell me what is it that we should be looking up too? Wait, is it the White American’s federal reserve system that creates federal reserve notes only to create more DEBT so that Americans will continue to work/slave, taking the place of those past African and Native Slaves, that we should be impressed with and admire????????

There is nothing about the European Race that African Americas/Africans should be looking up too. Europeans still have their unity, and their “culture” but black people have been stripped of theirs and so it is completely necessary and urgent that Africans find a way to reconnect with AFRICA, African culture and traditions.

Your thesis sounds like just another way of Europeans continually trying to detach Black people from their roots so that Europeans can reap the benefits of beautiful Africa.

…. and they say white supremacy/racism is dead. Bullshit.

And no matter how you try to twist and turn and lie and steal and deal AFRICANS WILL ALWAYS BE THE PEOPLE OF THE SUN AND THE PEOPLE OF AFRICA, just the same as Europeans are the people of Europe.

Most White Americans do not identify as ancient Europeans. They idealize their founding fathers amd developed a culture of their own. Black Americans need to do the same. They have TONS of black American heroes, geniuses, activists and freedom fighters (ex. I am 100% sure most black children didn’t know about Solomon Northup before 12 year a Slave, this guy was an incredible, strong man!). Africa will never be the true home of black Americans as it is complex, diverse and very cultural/clique-centred (most African immigrants will tell you they only feel at home in their specific tribe/clan/people within their country. Many Americanized Africans aren’t even welcomed warmly back home bc they aren’t “African” enough).
Learn about your past, embrace it and move on. Those are the ways of success. Yes, slavery was horrible, but how about focusing on the strength of those slaves who fought and EARNED their freedoms and will always be remembered in history! Black children need to learn about people like Northup to be proud of!

If one goes back and looks at history, he or she will realize that whites were not the only people murdering and suppressing. This is a humankind problem — not given to a specific race. I do not understand why there are those who keep on writing about whites killing each other in Europe — like no other continent or race on the planet was doing the same thing. Native Americans were not unified when whites first showed up — neither were Africans. In India and Asia, war, fighting, killing, and suppressing was a way of life. When Columbus arrived, what were those native tribes in South America doing to on another? I think that some of the ruling groups were enslaving, killing, sacrificing, and eating those whom they conquered. When we hold whites to a higher standard than people from other races, why do we do this? To me, it sends a message that whites should have known better. Are some saying that whites should have known better because they were more advanced? That is confusing to me. Furthermore, one needs to remember that we can judge those who lived centuries before us by the same measuring stick that we use in the present, but this is ridiculous. Most whites had a minimal education, if any, centuries ago, and most who did have an education did not have classes like sociology or psychology where we learn that different is not always better. There has been a lot of learning that has transpired in the last two hundred years. So, I would caution those who want to make whites out to be murderous suppressors and en-slavers. Every race should first take a look in their own backyard.

There is no white privilege, nor white supremacy at this point in our history. No one is stopping anyone from learning their history, all the resources we need are available. Although blaming others for our shortcomings, and lack of preparation is ignorant and immature. We do live in a country where one can succeed with determination and the ability to over come adversity. No one gives away success or wealth, and anyone one with money is prejudice in regard to one without no matter the amount of melanin in his skin. Slavery and Jim Crow are at the root of the dysfunction in black American culture, but how long can that be used or held on to. It always does more harm to the victim to hold a grudge than the perpetrators. It’seems racism is passed down and taught through the family unit and culture, I assume a victim mentality to be the same. They are both self induced retardation. Anyway All people, ethnicity, and nationalities contribute to world culture and progress…period. We all build on each others progress, any revision of history or claiming someone else’s is belittling . We have a lot to be proud of as Americans no matter ethnicity. American history is the story of the human condition…the best and worst highly evolved primates have to offer. Hey, right back at you, hater.

Look up the Barbary Slave trade. It lasted from 1530-1780; African’s went into Europe and the Middle East and kidnapped millions of people and forced them into slavery. Often the men were chained to the oars in the ship’s galleys, and that it where they rowed the oars, ate, slept, crapped their pants, were beaten with whips–and when they were to weak to work they were thrown overboard to drown in the sea.

Women were forced into sex slavery, field work, and house slaves.

As far as the Federal Reserve, take it up with the dang Jews! The Jews started that banking filth and no one I know appreciates it, black or white.

Blacks rob, rape, assault and murder whites by the 10,000s every single year in the States. But let a white kill a black and all hell breaks lose.

Ever hear of the knockout game? It’s where a bunch of black thugs beat up a white person for kicks. I guess that wasn’t entertaining enough so the new game is to burn white people to death.

Take it to someone who gives a damn about your past abuse ; for I surely don’t.

Uromatic: What I said was that black Americans don’t need to use African culture to validate themselves, as if they have no worth without some connection to Africa. They’ve achieved so many great things here in America that they don’t need external validation from long-vanished African civilizations. (And no, the ancient Egyptians weren’t your ancestors; nearly all African Americans came here from West Africa. It’s as if Irish Americans claimed that their ancestors were Greek.)

Sure, connecting with your African roots is a good thing, but as I said in the main article, it shouldn’t be the driving force behind African American culture. I find it sad and Ironic that African Americans, who were isolated from mainstream society by whites for so many years, are now deliberately isolating themselves more and more. Unless you’re serious about going back to Africa, you should probably be encouraging African Americans to adapt to American society — without losing their identity. (Plenty of other ethnic groups have done the same thing.)

When I said that African Americans have American heroes to look up to, I meant people like Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois, Jack Johnson, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King… you get the idea. Then I added that in an ideal society, blacks could have white heroes as well, just as so many white people have black heroes. Anything wrong with that?

What you say about African Americans as a “broken” population has validity. But I’d guess that it has less to do with the disconnection from Africa and more to do with the damaging effects of slavery, the brutal Jim Crow caste system in the South, prejudice, and even well-intentioned (but ultimately disastrous) interventions like the welfare programs of the late 20th century.

Finally, you really should try to get over the notion that all white people are somehow guilty for the sins of their ancestors — or even that all their ancestors were guilty. My ancestors never owned slaves, and only a small percentage of white people in America have ancestors who owned slaves. Even most Southerners before the Civil War never owned slaves. Collective guilt is an easy charge to level against people you resent, but that doesn’t make it valid — and it does nothing to improve race relations.

What is all this talk of African this African that, the term African is a European so is Egyptian or ancient Egyptian. once you find the most ancient name of ancient Egyptians by themselves for themselves you will find the chain that chain themselves to others in the continent. Today’s history is driven by people with their own shot comings. The terms black people, African they are too narrow to understand the continent. The so called historian they often stretched them when it suit them, narrow them when it does not suit them.

There are pros and cons to the dialogue……I agree to disagree yet very interesting arguments. So, here I am a first generation American born to Trinidadian parents. My parents immigrated here to the US in 1977 from the island of Trinidad located in the West Indies and then I was born in 1979.

My mother, who is 50% East Indian and 50% black and my father is mixed with chinese, black, and spanish. My parents sound very exotic to some but the end result was a child (me) who looks black but with more defined features like the stereotypical chinky eyes and “mixed” looking hair.

My maternal grandmother, who was black, glorified all her biracial children because she, my grandmother, was the outcast amongst her siblings, who had a different father from her and they were biracial (creole chinese). So she in return married my grandfather, a 3rd generation East Indian who ironically considered himself “black” because he was not raised as a traditional hindu so he can not identify with the Indian culture……he just looks it.

Anyhow, I recall when i was a teenager or so asking my grandmother about her family history and background. She told me her mother was a French Creole…….my grandmother’s maiden name was Piaget and she spoke creole. So here we go…..I’m like well who was 100% African and black in your family cuz you look black for a reason…..OMG….she frumpled up her face and said the word “African” in such disdain that I couldn’t believe what I was hearing or seeing. All she said was no we dont have Africans in my family. Ignorance. But she was born in 1924 and raised during a time where to be fear-skinned was doted upon and to be dark-skinned was inferior and shunned. And within the black race it is still regarded as such in these modern day times. But it just goes to show you how the mindset can be infiltrated generation to generation.

So how do I self-identify? I do not tick African-American on those forms that ask me to choose from the list of options. I check other and identify myself as Trinidadian-American. How can I deny all of these wonderful races that are a part of me just because I look more like one race than the other? Why not have European-American as an option also? I was born American but raised Trini. I recall resenting my parents when I was younger because they were determined to raise me “their” way, they refused to have me become like the American kids I was friends with….idle, no respect and manners, not taking their school work seriously……

I grew up in the Wash., DC area, attended Syracuse University, got a good job (money wise) and moved to Philly, where as the gentleman somewhere above mentioned that a lot of blacks in Philly are Muslim……Yes they are and it irritates me for a different reason. In my opinion it’s a monkey see, monkey do thing and an insult to the “real” practicing Muslims/Islamic culture.

So…..are the Egyptians black? So based on what I have read and gathered from Egyptian friends who are near and dear…….Present day Egypt is more or less Arab which makes sense considering the vast majority of North Africa was taken over by the Arabs. I think the rest is self-explanatory as to who the Arabs ran out and conquered. And yes they too along with Black Africans sold many Africans into slavery for profit. Its a shame on both ends as far as the mindset of the European in those times to want enslave folks to do their labor, the torture alone is sickening and those in Africa who sold their own into it. 2 wrongs don’t make a right. But that was history and we’re supposed to learn from it. I would just like to say from my own personal experiences from college on up to my everyday work life~physically its gone but mentality wise it is not. And I’ve never heard Black American claiming Egypt as part of their ancestry, maybe in the context of being “African” and not black.

And Black America is so lost when it comes to their identity. And the reason I glorify mine for being a first generation American. And I think this is why they patronize Africans…..it is the one bond that is lost but not forgotten…..

I recall visiting Nigeria with a few close friends (asian, nigerian, and american) back in 2006. One of my friends was going to try and start a business there after visiting Nigeria before and falling in love with the country. We went to a business seminar to support her which was run by a caucasian American and everything sounded great until he said “Africa has a lot of problems. We want to forget about the problems and take their money” which in my opinion has always been the case……What other continent has so many natural resources from oil to minerals to precious metals……And a pity that the govt is so corrupt in Africa. Money is the root of all evil.
And yes Jesus was middle-eastern and looked probably like a stereotypical Israeli. Today, you see people not fitting the stereotypical look of certain geographical areas due to the mixing of races and ethnicities. Such is life and so are the times we live in.

Is this just a blog for white people to wax poetic about how stupid they think afrocentrism is? What about the Indigenous people erased by contemporary black imperialists posing as afrocentric thinkers? What about the Indigenous people throughout Europe who were destroyed by imperial church leaders? Being more nuanced in your arguments isn’t about reiterating racist nonsense insisting that European social, political, and artistic achievements are superior to the rest of the world’s. You sound like a group of racists patting each other on the backs. The problems with afrocentric theories go much deeper and include such things as gender and class. Also, you don’t have to throw the whole discussion out the window. Afrocentric thinkers have done an amazing job of ensuring that the broader society does have a stronger reference point for African influences on the rest of the world. Insisting that no, Africa has influenced nobody and only European influences count for anything, just makes you all sound like total jerks.

(Based on what you you blacks claim) If Sub-Saharan blacks went to North Africa and built the ancient Egypt’s civilization, then how come sub-Saharan blacks never built any civilization in sub-Saharan Africa? Shouldn’t you blacks first build civilization in your own homeland(sub-Saharan Africa) and THEN go to Egypt and build the Ancient Egypt? Shouldn’t ancient monuments be found all over sub-Saharan Africa since you blacks claim you were able to build ancient Egypt’s civilization? But NO! in sub-Saharan Africa we only find and see primitive naked tribes (even today let alone 1000s of years ago) who are only capable of only building huts with straws and eating insects while sitting on dirt naked. There is no civilization (modern or ancient) that were built by sub-Saharan blacks.

Therefore this FACT proves that blacks have never been able to build any civilization. And since whites in Europe and the Middle East have been able to build civilization in the ancient time based on the monuments and historical evidence in their homelands, therefore the ancient Egyptians were WHITE and ancient Egypt’s civilization were built by WHITES. This is NOT “white supremacy”; this is just dealing with FACTS and TRUTH. As this FACT is even backed by the archeological evidence and the racial differences between the North Africans and Sub-Saharan African.

Blacks or black-race belongs ONLY to sub-Saharan Africa and no-where-else. ONLY sub-Saharan Africans are black; North Africans are WHITE. They have always been white. Only in the past 100 years some blacks from the Saharan desert and Sudan migrated to North Africa that are the black minorities in North Africa. In the ancient time and medieval time blacks of the sub-Saharan Africa were only used as SLAVES in North Africa, because North Africans have always been white and perceived themselves superior to the blacks in sub-Saharan Africa.

This FACT hurts your “black-pride” so you blacks fabricate all kinds of LIES about history of North Africa and try to STEAL North Africa for yourselves. and expect us to accept your worthless pathetic LIES too. But NO, You African / American blacks have NO CONNECTION to North Africa nor Ancient Egypt or Jews of the Middle East. You blacks have ONLY ONE homeland(Sub-Saharan Africa). And you blacks in North America and South America your specific homeland in Sub-Saharan Africa is ONLY WEST-AFRICA. Deal with it (the TRUTH) for truth is the only cure for your mental disease called “Afrocentrism”.

That’s only a modern achievement. Let’s look at Ancient Sub Saharan Africa to dispel the lies of the wicked white/red devils!

This is from your own white scholars and educational media sources like National Geographic! Can’t argue with them, can’t argue with me nor the truth! Read me and weep!

In this National Geographic Documentary you will see the Ancient Pyramids identical to Egypt’s and History of Sudan and other neighboring countries in Africa!

      The Ancient Kingdoms of Cush/Nubia

The Bible says the lineage of Noah’s son Ham who is well know by all to have been a black man just like his father Noah was!

      https://www.biblicaltraining.org/library/ham

      HAM (Heb. hām, perhaps hot)

The youngest son of Noah, born probably about ninety-six years before the Flood, and one of the eight persons to live through the Flood. He became the progenitor of the dark races—not the Blacks, but the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans, and Canaanites (Gen.10.6-Gen.10.20). His indecency when his father lay drunk brought a curse on Canaan (Gen.9.20-Gen.9.27).The descendants of Ham (Ps.78.51; Ps.105.23; Ps.106.22). In these passages “Ham” is used as another name for Egypt as representing Ham’s principal descendants.A city of the Zuzites, east of the Jordan (Gen.14.5).

      – See more at: https://www.biblicaltraining.org/library/ham#sthash.pkfzGTrR.dpuf

      Zondervan Bible Dictionary:
      Ham:
1.The youngest son of Noah born probably about 96 years before the Flood; and one of eight persons to live through the Flood. He became the progenitor of the dark races; not the Negroes, but the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans and Canaanites.

Which clearly PROVES without a shadow of a doubt that Ancient Egyptians and Ancient Israelites (Jews) were and are BLACK PEOPLES! So are their descendants of today! Shalom!

Why don’t you just get over it?Your ancestors were West African Bantu slaveS that didn’t envolved past prehistoric times. Copying and pasting afrocentric crap from youtube and parroting afrocentric half truth mixed with lies and fairytales are no proof. It may be a proof to brain dead, selfhating desperate black Americans who want to escape their real identity but not for sane people. Jews and the Ancient Egptians were not black or negroid.
But even if the Jews/Hebrew/Israelites and the Ancient Egyptians were pitch black and negroid, you Afro- Americans are still the descendants of West African Bantus with no genetical or cultural link to Jews and Egptians: Therefore you can’t claim them as your people . You can spin the myth like you want it won’t change the fact that black Americans have lower achievement scores overall. Besides Afrocentrists also claim that the ancient Chinese, Japanese, Native Americans, the Olmec, Aztecs ancient Romans, Greeks, Arabs, the Persians and even the Vikings were all black negroid and their people and also make youtube clips to prove their lies and nonsense. Afrocentrism better said Negrocentrisml would be great comedy if wasn’t so desperate and pathetic. Now Afrocentrits are stealing European classical music and claim that Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven and Bach were all black negroes and that Eurocentrics stole classic music from Blacks.

Then why did Herodotus say that the Ancient Egyptians were black people?

The full quote from Herodotus …

“For the fact is as I soon came to realise myself, and then heard from others later, that the Colchians are obviously Egyptian. When the notion occurred to me, I asked both the Colchians and the Egyptians about it, and found that the Colchians had better recall of the Egyptians than the Egyptians did of them. Some Egyptians said that they thought the Colchians originated with Sesostris’ army, but I myself guessed their Egyptian origin not only because the Colchians are dark-skinned and curly-haired (which does not count for much by itself , because these features are common in others too) but more importantly because Colchians, Egyptians and Ethiopians are the only peoples in the world who practise circumcision and who have always done so.

Get the racism out of your heart and just look at truth!

You’ve never been to Africa so you wouldn’t know that there are great cities there just like in America!

        How ignorant can you be?

Do you hate black people that much?

All black people aren’t bad, you know.

Just like all whites aren’t neanderthals, neither are all “sub saharan” blacks all mud hut and primitive.

Please get an education before you post again.

The degree of polarization and hostility here, on both sides of the issue, makes me wonder if blacks and whites can ever coexist amicably. We can debunk the myths of Afrocentrism without making demeaning comments about blacks and sub-Saharan Africa. We can value African heritage without accusing whites of being devils and usurpers. Good grief, we’re all (or mostly) Americans here, so let’s try to act as if we belong to the same country.

Let me try to inject some facts into the debate here. Yes, black people are from Africa, and the ancient Egyptians were African, but that doesn’t make the Egyptians black. The people of sub-Saharan Africa are black; the Egyptians, like most of the people along the north African coast, were more Mediterranean in appearance. We have tomb portraits of Egyptians in which they could pass for Greeks or Italians. The ancient Egyptians depicted black people differently in their art, and I’ve seen references in ancient Egyptian writing to “the land of the Negroes.” Yes, Egyptians were dark from exposure to the sun, and many of them were full-lipped, but they tended to have narrow noses and straight hair. There may have been some mingling here and there, but ancient Egypt was not in any way a black (Negro) civilization.

The Africans held in high esteem in the ancient world as men of learning were north Africans — mostly of Greek and Phoenician (Carthaginian) stock — not black. Now, the Nubians, who also built pyramids, were at least borderline black, and they developed a pretty impressive civilization of their own. It didn’t pre-date ancient Egypt, though.

African Americans are overwhelmingly from the west coast of Africa, fairly close to the equator. They had little or no contact with Egypt or Nubia. They did build a few cities and created some beautiful sculptures, but they weren’t literate and never advanced far in learning or technology. All their knowledge and traditions were passed down orally. They advanced only as far as they needed to survive in their tropical climate as hunters and farmers.

If African Americans want to take pride in their heritage, there’s plenty to be proud of without resorting to myth-making. Just look at the black influence on American culture from the ragtime era to the present: virtually every trend in music, language and style originated with black people. Look at the achievements of blacks in American sports, entertainment and literature despite centuries of inequality. You don’t need to find your validity in ancient Egypt; it’s right here.

Afrocentrism since is based on halftruth, lies, wishful fantasy and deep rooted selfhatred and infiority it has no limits in making the most lunatic and insane claims. Now Afrocentrists claim that God was a black man, that black people created the universe. Black negroid people were flying to the Moon and to the Mars in ancient times while white people were living in caves nacked as savages. Afrocentrics who are mostly black Americans from the ghetto that never set a foot in Africa, that don’t know the real Africa but only the fictional one from Afrocentrism, love to play the World history teachers that teaches all non- negroid and non-African people about their real history – that is a black history. They go around make youtube clips and tell the Jews, the Arabs, the Native Americans, the Chinese, the Italians, the Persians, the Egyptians and even Scandinavians that they are fakes but the real ones were black negroes like them.So according to Afrocentrics ancient Chinese, Japanese, Native Americans, the Olmec, the Aztecs, ancient Romans, Greeks, Arabs, the Moors, the Moghuls, the Persians and even the Vikings were all black negroid and their people. The make many youtube clips to prove their lies and nonsense as true. Now Afrocentrics are stealing European classical music, troll on youtube music sites and claiming that Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven and Bach and all the great European composers were all black negroes but that white Eurocentrits paint them white for stealing classical music from Blacks. They also claim that all of the invention and technological advancements we use are invented all by black Africans. Neither skin colour nor the term “African” is an identity in Africa since they are many different ethnic groups, tribes, languages and cultures there. Africans therefore usually only identitfy with their own tribe, language and culture etc. Most black Africans reject Afrocentrism cause they know that black Americans are full of disdain and shame for their real West African ancestors and that therefore they claim all non-African and negroid races as black for claiming them as their people and their own, for escaping their real identity and hijacking achievements. Furthermore being African does’t always mean being black. There are Native and indigenous North African tribes like the Kabyle(Non-Arabs) from the Mountains of Algeria who are pale skinned 100% Africans and 100% Caucasianoid. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/4871510847_892a9c8068_b.jpg http://cdn.top4top.net/i_179ff5c2084.jpg. Afrocentrism demonstrates how much bruised the psyche of black Americans because they want to escape their real identity by stealing other people’s history and identity. Afrocentrism is also Eurocentrism and white Supremacy in disguise cause it only values civilizations and cultures that white people admire. The Egyptians, other Africans, Arabs etc never cared about ancient Egypt or the pyramides.Only European historians were fascinated, captivated and mesmirized by ancient Egyptians. European organized archological excavans, collected the archeological finds, decoded ancient Egyptian writings and builded all the museums to honour Ancient Egypt.

Any logical historian or scientist knows the bible is not a history book, and is full of mythology. And a black supremist that subscribes to a white religion.. is rediculous. You sound highly racist. The reason I say this is because EVERYTHING you’re saying about “African” people is negative, hurtful and hateful.

However, I’m going to debunk EVERYTHING you’ve said about “Black” people and hopefully you’re intelligent enough to do your own research and see the YOU ARE 100% WRONG!

First off, it’s not Afrocentrism that claim that GOD is a black man! The Bible is what makes this claim, not Afrocentrics.

Daniel 7:9 King James Version (KJV)

9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the HAIR OF HIS HEAD LIKE THE PURE WOOL: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

Only black peoples have hair like pure wool!

The Bible also says that Jesus is a black man! Did you know that?

      Revelation 1:15

And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they BURNED in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

Burn with an (ed) at the end, hence burn(ed) is past tense, which means that something has already been burned.

Answer this question. What color is ANYTHING that has been burned in a furnace?

That’s right! Very very dark brown or black! No getting around this one!

Oh wait! I have another thousand feet of wall for you to climb!

      Burning Brass

Jesus is an Israelite! All of His ancestors (The Israelites) we’re black men just like him.

Song of Solomon 1:5-8 King James Version (KJV)

5 I am BLACK, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.

6 Look not upon me, because I am BLACK, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.

Some Eurocentric Racist, identity thieves like yourself will try to claim that this was Solomon’s concubine who wrote this above verse. Couldn’t be more WRONG!

Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. He was also punished for this.

Anyhow, since white supremacist love to claim that Jesus and all of His ancestors were white and that GOD is white also, why don’t you try explaining why GOD would allow a black gentile to write ANYTHING in the scriptures!

      HE wouldn’t!

HE would NOT allow a gentile heathen (no matter what color) to write the Holy Scriptures.

Especially given the FACT that Solomon was punished for dealing with heathen, gentile women! To make such a claim is preposterous!

Therefore, since Jesus’ ancestors described themselves as dark brown (BLACK) people, it would only make sense that Jesus looks like all of His Israelite family members.

Here’s more of Jesus’ ancestors describing the color of their skin!

      Job 30:30King James Version (KJV)
30 My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.

      Lamentations 5:10King James Version (KJV)
10 Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine.

Noah was also a black man! We know this because his son Mizraim is the founder of Ancient Egypt! Look it up!

The Sons of Ham–Cush (Ethiopians) & Mizraim (Egyptians) & Phut (ancient Lybians or Somilians) & Canaan – “Genesis 10:6”

I could go on all day but I’ sure you’ll come back with an ignorant uneducated comment! However, though I’ll save some for later, I want you to try to get around the facts I’ve posted above.

Oh, and one last thing. It’s your own white scholars who proclaim that the BLACK Ancient Egyptians started human civilization.

It is also white scholars who proclaim that There are even more ancient BLACK civilizations in what you white supremacists call Sub Saharan Africa.

4 The Ancient African Kingdom of Cush/Nubia

White Man Tells The Truth!!!! THROWBACK!!!

I can’t wait to see you try and get around this one! YOU CAN’T!

Furthermore, not all people with dary crayon brown skin is African! The Original Ancient Israelites were so-called BLACK, too!

The Aboriginals are native, indigenous Australians and they, too have dark brown (Black) skin. Australia is nowhere near Africa!

I’m African American and I must admit, Afrocentrists are nothing more than self hating lunatics with an inferiority complex. The claims and pseudoscience they try to pass off as fact is insane. Now they’re claiming African Americans were the original Native Americans and that African were the first to set foot in the Americas. Yet they don’t ever quote a single scientific fact that states there was no Negroid presence in the Americas prior to Columbus. Everything is pseudoscience based.

They’re also trying to claim Melanesians and Australian Aborigines are African and They claim the original Chinese were Blacks…….I mean wtf!

The ignorance is so pathetic you don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Science was never my strong subject but even I have a basic understanding of biology and anthropology! How can a group of people be this dumb not to mention racist! Funny how they are so against whites being racist but are just as racist themselves!

      Amen, Monique! Thank you.

    • February 15, 2016 9:15 pm

Good claim, though I don’t believe you’re really “African American”. Here’s why.

You claim, “Afrocentrists are nothing more than self hating lunatics with an inferiority complex.”

So sad to hear you support racist people who deliberately lie and deceive while trying to put your own “African American”, as you say, people down.

No matter my opinion, FACT represents that racists people have enslaved, raped, robbed, tortured and murdered “African American” people for CENTURIES!

And, their children (the modern day racists) carry the torch!

Sure, they’re not hanging and raping anymore. No more “African American” babies used for gator bait, fed to alligators for racists devils to make alligator skin shoes. Sure.

But the same systematic oppression and suppression of “African American” people’s history that exists to this day is overwhelming.

And you support their racists lies? Wow!

How could you trust them to tell YOUR story?

What’s even more “wow” is that you trust these people’s scholarship over just plain proof!

For example, they still try to claim the Ancient Egyptians were not black people which is completely 100% FALSE!

They want everybody to believe that Black and African people are primitive monkeys that live in mud huts who has never had a civilization nor inventions, nor academics or scholarship!

These are outright lies to erase the TRUE HISTORY of black people

WHEN BLACK PEOPLE INVENTED SPEECH,THE ALPHABET WRITING, READING, PAPER FROM PAPYRUS, MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS, AGRICULTURE, ASTRONOMY, GOVERNMENT, ECONOMICS, LABOR, THE WHEEL, THE VERY FIRST VEHICLE (CHARIOTS) DOMESTICATION OF ANIMALS, ETC. ETC.

The Egyptians had a calendar as early as 4800 BC, but in 4200 BC their mathematics and astronomy produced a 365 day calendar (12 months of 30 days + 5 feast days). By 3100 BC (the time of the Egyptian mace ) various agricultural communities along the banks of the Nile were united by a NUBIAN, Menes, who founded a dynasty of 32 Pharoahs and lasted 3000 years. For more than half that time, Egypt included parts of modern Israel and Syria as well as the Nile Valley. To rule effectively, an efficient and extensive administration was developed for taking taxes, census, and maintaining a large army. All of this required some mathematics. At first they used counting glyphs, but even by 2000 BC, the hieratic glyphs were in use. For information on sources, see Egyptian Mathematical Papyri.

What the hell is a “African American”, anyway? Who the hell made that up?

How can you be from 2 continents?

“The claims and pseudoscience they try to pass off as fact is insane. Now they’re claiming African Americans were the original Native Americans and that African were the first to set foot in the Americas. Yet they don’t ever quote a single scientific fact that states there was no Negroid presence in the Americas prior to Columbus. Everything is pseudoscience based.”

There is a book titled, “They came before Columbus”. Check it out.

      Also…

“The strongest evidence of African presence in America before Columbus comes from the pen of Columbus himself. In 1920, a renowned American historian and linguist, Leo Weiner of Harvard University, in his book, Africa and the discovery of America, explained how Columbus noted in his journal that Native Americans had confirmed that “black skinned people had come from the south-east in boats, trading in gold-tipped spears.”

Maybe this is why Native Americans often had the same customs like plates in their lips and earlobes. Common sense here.

“One of the first documented instances of Africans sailing and settling in the Americas were black Egyptians led by King Ramses III, during the 19th dynasty in 1292 BC. In fact, in 445 BC, the Greek historian Herodotus wrote of the Ancient Egyptian pharaohs’ great seafaring and navigational skills. Further concrete evidence, noted by Dr. Imhotep and largely ignored by Euro-centric archaeologists, includes “Egyptian artifacts found across North America from the Algonquin writings on the East Coast to the artifacts and Egyptian place names in the Grand Canyon.”

“They’re also trying to claim Melanesians and Australian Aborigines are African and They claim the original Chinese were Blacks…….I mean wtf!”

“Asian DNA Shows Similar Mutations as Africans
A group of researchers set out to prove that Chinese people evolved from homo erectus independently from all other humans, but their DNA testing also found that early Chinese civilizations were composed of Africans. Back in 2005, Chinese DNA specialist Jin Li collected and analyzed more than 12,000 DNA samples from 165 different ethnic groups and found stunning similarities in people of Southeast Asia with Africans. “We did not see even one single individual that could be considered as a descendent of the homo erectus in China, rather, everybody was a descendent of our ancestors from Africa,” the DNA specialist stated.”

“The ignorance is so pathetic you don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Science was never my strong subject but even I have a basic understanding of biology and anthropology! How can a group of people be this dumb not to mention racist! Funny how they are so against whites being racist but are just as racist themselves!”

YOUR PEOPLE INVENTED SPEECH,THE ALPHABET WRITING, READING, PAPER FROM PAPYRUS, MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS, AGRICULTURE, ASTRONOMY, GOVERNMENT, ECONOMICS, LABOR, THE WHEEL, THE VERY FIRST VEHICLE (CHARIOTS) DOMESTICATION OF ANIMALS, ETC. ETC.

But I still don’t believe that you’re an “African American”. You’re just trolling!

I feel that Afrocentrist and Eurocentrist shouldn’t dictate history and determine where the original ancient people where.
It’s annoying when people cry about this and that. Evetybody has a right to an opinion.

It will be funny when people all over come to know the true history of EARTH- which is convoluted, not only this Egypt is not the only civilization built in such a way others came BEFORE Egypt. Highly advanced civilizations, in OTHER parts of the planet. Don’t forget Sumer came BEFORE Egypt in present day Iraq. The ones who went to Egypt were highly likely to be Atlanteans (who by the way more then likely spread throughout the planet once Atlantis was destroyed) which may explain the similarities around various civilizations throughout the planet, and pyramids ALL over the planet, even in the Sea in the Caribbean (Highly likely to be Atlantean territory along with others). I think Egypt can very much be connected to some really corrupted things going on on this planet for thousands of years. It would also be very interesting if we are not even the original species of this planet (well humanoid species because there are millions of other species who is to say they do not belong here as well i.e. animal/plant kingdom). I believe Egypt was mixed to me its pretty clear, especially given its IDEAL location to be a bridge between civilizations. I suspect that many races meddled with Egypt in several ways throughout its history, but some current Egyptians may ancient, such as Coptic Egyptians.
America is sick to the head when it comes to color, people here do not even realize how sick they are with this whole black, and white thing its a mental illness, and a great tool to divide, and split the mind. I realize it because my family is not from here but I was born, and raised here, I am racially ambiguous, and I did not grow up with that split mind until I reached American institutions (school), I knew myself as my ethnicity not a color… I do find it a bit ridiculous when some people want to tell others who they are but do not know themselves especially to other people who immigrate to America, and clearly have a different culture, language, and ways of being but some try to say they are x,y, and z and force this ideal on them. Some also have an issue with mixed race people or whole groups of people who are mixed since they do not fall into the lovely box of black, and white, and may identify differently or have a different experience, which is a COLOR not a race, but whoever wants to reduce themselves to a color go ahead, when you go around the world including Africa, Asia, Europe, and so forth people mainly identify themselves by their ethnicity, their group, religion, and so forth not a color, it sounds so much more sensible to me since it has a deeper meaning then some arbitrary skin color. Americans sometimes have a hard time accepting something other then their ideology, because Americans in general including African Americans have a whole superiority/inferiority complex, both sides playing both roles, and have these attitudes towards other people, and countries, this includes BOTH so-called whites and blacks utilize this arrogant behavior towards other people. I rather not be part of it because its a lost argument from the beginning, there is no rationalizing with narcissism, and there are many narcissist in this country, fake activists, and spiritual people who put ideology above humanity, above compassion, above understanding, because proving to be right is more important then people or the planet.

African Americans ARE NOT FROM AFRICA!

They are Israelites sold to you whites by Africans.

Do some research please. White people are thieves, murderers and liars.

Why would anyone trust what they teach?

They have completely usurped history and taught a bunch of fallacies and lies.

THE WHITE RACE KNEW BLACKS WERE ISRAELITES WHEN THEY BROUGHT THEM INTO SLAVERY IN AMERICA!

There are several books (written by white scholars) that reveal the true history of Black American people.

I don’t know who’s teaching you this stuff, but it’s wrong and even delusional. Today’s African Americans came from West Africa — nowhere near Israel. And last I checked, Middle Eastern people (including Jews and Egyptians) weren’t black. The people from that region are olive-skinned Caucasians. As for your contention that “White people are thieves, murderers and liars” — wow, you don’t generalize much, do you? I probably won’t convince you to change your views, but I can try.

I am an African American who doesn’t believe that all ancient Egyptians were Black, but I do believe that the majority of that population was mixed race. The other portion could easily have been groups of Blacks and Whites. So, for most of its existence, it was a heterogeneous society. This can easily be proven by the various artwork and artifacts that depict different colors of people. I do believe that the artifacts display a society that varied in its racial make up throughout its very long history.
If you study the way they depicted themselves you can easily see that the typical Egyptian was considered to be a mixed race person, because he was some where in between the White and Black races. Egypt was a major crossroad for trade between Sub Saharan Africa and Asia, which created a situation for race mixing for thousands of years. Another very important, and often overlooked historical fact, is that during the earlier dynasties, Upper and Lower Egypt both had more pronounced racial differences. Again, the artifacts prove this to be true. Such a situation would help to lay the foundations for a more racially mixed group, while more Blacks from further south and Whites from places like ancient Libya and Asia continuously added to this gene pool. One of the reasons that some people say that ancient Egyptians were all Black is because our modern definition of Black includes people who have mixed blood.
I do want to say that the modern Arab Egyptian could not represent the typical ancient Egyptian. The current population was only represented in a small way, as the artifacts and mummy data show, during this long ago period. This is further reinforced by the fact that there have been countless large migrations of people from the Arabian peninsula to Egypt since the beginning of the modern era. This was especially true during the British colonial period. While this was happening, there was no counter migration of Black people from the south, mostly because of religious and cultural barriers that began to develop after the last pharaoh died. So, the genetic make up of the modern Egyptian has a limited resemblance to the ancient population. If you doubt this, look at the ancient Egyptian’s drawings of ancient Arabs and Libyans. You can easily see that they make it very clear that these two groups are White. If you compare modern Libyans with modern Egyptians, you will see that this comparison is strikingly different from that which existed between ancient Libyans and much darker ancient Egyptians ages ago.
Lastly, I would like to say that since both races were represented in ancient Egypt, it is silly to try to extract Black Africans from the Egyptian experience. If you study the artifacts, mummy data, and other historical accounts, it is impossible not to realize that Egypt was an African Civilization that included cultural and racial contributions from Mediterranean civilizations and Asia.

Black and White are identity based sociopolitical terms and NOT Biological Races.

Enlighten yourself and study Population Genetics.

Populations and Demes are the closest analogy to Race. There are several hundred world populations with 1/2 to 2/3 just on the African continent.

Can I ask some questions ?
If Egypt were white or Caucasoid, meaning they had less melanin and could barely stand against sun radiation(even if they were like their current settlers) therefore would have been wiped out by skin diseases and Aids radiation. Unless there were suncream there then.
