I agree with most of this list too! My favorite one is “political correctness”. But I think it applies to conservatives as well.

Rick, I have come to your site due to the recommendation of my husband. This is definitely and interesting site. Unfortunately I am not as politically informed as I need to be. I don’t watch or listen to some of the people you have listed simply because I fine much of their babel ludicrous. With that said keep up the good work and I’ll keep reading.

Thanks for the high praise, Ian. And you’re absolutely right about my blatant oversight, which I plan to correct ASAP. Just goes to show you that even The New Moderate isn’t totally omniscient. (Just partially omniscient.) The revolution starts when the great silent middle wakes up… maybe we need to set the alarm.

How could you possibly leave Michael Moore of off this list? He has taken lying and self -aggrandizement to almost unheard of heights within his genre. He is the far left’s answer to Rush (and I don’t mean the rock band). Yeeech!

So far you seem to have the best moderate site I’ve seen. Count me in, what time is the revolution?

That’s why I said “secular mindset,” Mr Bayan, as opposed to an atheist one. As my other comments have denoted, I am an atheist, but more importantly a secularist. Where I part company with Dawkins and Hitchens and a couple of other staunch atheists is that I’m not an “anti-theist.” I don’t feel that theism is a mental disease nor do I think that that particular metaphysical conclusion is harmful in and of itself. Would I chide Dawkins for suggesting that theists are dullards? Indeed I would. But I’m not so sure about his position on that. He’s said different things, even gone so far as to say that he actually doesn’t think that theists are stupid. Same with Hitchens, who has never made that insult. He simply questions the logic behind it, which is the onus of the honest inquisitor. But yes, I prefer to focus on the more tangible effects of religion on civilization and society, to which the above figures give as much time as to god.

greyfoot: Well, it’s your tattoo. I admire Dawkins for his intellect and courage, but he seems to relish his role as God-basher a little too much. It’s one thing to be a secularist, another to confidently dismiss God as a myth and mock the believers. Granted, the Bible is a mixture of truth and fiction, but that has no bearing on whether there’s a god (or some kind of mysterious intelligence) behind the workings of the universe. We just don’t know.

I’d exclude Richard Dawkins from the list. I don’t agree with everything he says, but the secular mindset almost always proves to be more beneficial in my opinion.
